Our last Monday and Tuesday at the Haven... 3 more days to go!
I remember my grandmother once telling me that a smile communicates so much more than words ever can. I know she has a saying that accompanies that philosophy but for the life of me I can't remember it at the moment. However, I completely agree. And let me tell you, I have been getting soem awesome smiles that communicate so much love and acceptance from these kiddos!

This is Joelo and our individual session yesterday. He was so happy. He just finished telling me "I Love You" in sign language and was so proud of himself!
Baby time today! The baby in the black "Sparkle Just Like Me" shirt is Aggie. She is the little piece of heaven that I get to spend the last 45 minutes with every day. And the one with her back turned is Evelyn. She is a ham and was especially "ham-my" today!
Esther in the striped shirt and Gilly in the monkey outfit! For those of you who are curious. This is during my individual time with Aggie but Catherine is also there with Cabilo and our supervisor usually grabs a baby to hold so now this time has become a little language group for all the babies that are too small to go out of Haven 3 at boondoos time. We sing songs and interact with them and just work with them, whereever they are prelinguistically, to help enhance their communication skills. I know we are not PT people, but we also work with them whereever they are in their physical development. For example Chabilo is working on sitting up so while we are doing language stuff with her we are also working on her sitting up by herself, the same with Aggie and rolling, and Evelyn and crawling.
Now we all need a break every now and again and so yesterday evening we got just that. We got to go to a place about 30 minutes away called Jordan's rock, which is really just a random flat piece of granite rock in the middle of the African bush. They brought a cooker and made chicken and sausages to put on buns. They also made a fire on the rock and we roasted marshmallows and made s'mores. Then we watched the sun set, and of course like all college girls took a million posed pictures. Afterwards we got to look at the stars. It was a perfect night of relaxation and great for reflecting on life and how awesome God is! I can't describe the amount of stars that you can see laying on your back with no lights and no trees, no cities for miles and miles. It is utterly breathtaking. God is awesome!
You know me.. Had to do it.. (from left to right, Ainsley, Caitlyn, Lindy and Myself)
